For barbers
Glow Line for barbers
Most barbershop calls are the same question: can I get in today. Glow Line cannot see your chairs, but it can take a name, a mobile and the time they want, and text it to you, so you answer between fades instead of mid-fade.
Incoming call, Friday 4:40 pm
- Any chance of a skin fade before six tonight?
- Thanks for calling Corner Fade, this is the virtual assistant for the team. I cannot see the book, but I can send the barber a request.
- Yeah, anything before six is fine.
- Before six tonight for a skin fade. What is your name and mobile? The barber will text you as soon as he looks.
Booking request Sent to the shop with the caller's name, mobile and the before-six window.
What gets in the way for barbers
Walk-in culture, phone habits
Half your clients walk in and the other half ring to ask if there is a wait. Both happen while you have clippers in hand. A missed call is often a client who goes to the shop next door.
Short services, many of them
A skin fade is thirty minutes. Twelve a day means twelve chances for the phone to interrupt. The line takes the interruption and leaves you the decision.
Kids, beards and the works
Callers ask what a kids' cut costs or whether you do a hot towel shave. With your menu listed, the assistant answers straight.
A worked example
Barber work, with Glow Line
Corner Fade is a two-chair shop near a train station. The owner saved eight services: skin fade, scissor cut, beard trim, fade and beard, kids' cut under 12, hot towel shave, line-up and buzz cut, each with a price and minutes. Notes say that walk-ins are welcome and that the shop is cash and card.
At 4:40 on a Friday a bloke rings to ask if he can get a fade before six. The owner is mid-cut; the call diverts. The assistant says it is the virtual assistant for the team, cannot see the book, and offers to take a request. It gets his name, mobile and that he wants anything before six. The owner's phone buzzes with the request; he glances at it when the client is at the mirror, sees a gap at 5:30, taps the number and texts him to come down.

Questions from barbers
Can it say whether there is a wait right now?
No. It does not see your chairs. It takes the request and you reply with the honest answer in a text.
We are walk-in only. Is there any point?
The booking page and enquiry inbox on Free may be enough. The line is for shops where a missed call is a lost cut.
Can it answer in a casual tone?
It speaks plainly and warmly in Australian English. It introduces itself as a virtual assistant and keeps answers short.
