Glow Line vs Phorest Front Desk AI

Phorest Front Desk AI replies to SMS and WhatsApp and books into Phorest. Glow Line answers voice calls from $29 a month and leaves the booking to you.

Glow Line is made by the Glow Tally team, so this comparison is our own. Every fact about another product links to that product's own page.

These two tools cover different halves of the front desk. Phorest Front Desk AI works inside Phorest Chat on two-way SMS and WhatsApp, and books, reschedules and cancels straight into Phorest from live availability; none of the Phorest pages we read describe it answering a phone call. Glow Line answers voice calls that you divert to it, from $29 a month, but books nothing: every booking reaches you as a request to confirm. A Phorest salon whose clients mostly message should look at Front Desk AI first. A salon of any kind whose problem is a phone ringing out while everyone is mid-service is the case Glow Line is built for.

Ringing and texting are different jobs

Think about who contacts you each way. A first-time client who found you on a map is likely to ring, because they have no thread with you yet. A regular wanting to move Thursday's cut may well text the number your reminders come from. Phorest Front Desk AI is designed for the second person, and does a fuller job of it than Glow Line could: it can see your availability, make the change and take a deposit without anyone touching the screen.

For the first caller, the one who rings, Phorest's pages describe nothing from Front Desk AI. Glow Line picks up after about twenty seconds of ringing, tells the caller what a service costs from your list, takes their details and texts them to you. It cannot see your Phorest diary, so it never promises a time.

The SMS rule that changes the picture

Phorest's help article says that over SMS, Front Desk AI replies only to clients who have already received a message from your business. A stranger texting your number for the first time is outside that, though WhatsApp chats are not limited the same way. For a salon trying to catch new clients, that detail matters more than any price.

A worked month for a Phorest salon

Picture a four-chair salon on Phorest Complete Advantage that already uses Front Desk AI for client messages. The phone still rings out about 55 times a month on busy afternoons.

  • Glow Line's Line plan covers 40 calls. The next 15 are still answered, because Line keeps going up to 80, but each is marked over the allowance and the text you receive says so. There is no per-call charge for them.
  • If that happens two months running, Salon at $84 a month covers 200 calls and adds an enquiry form for the salon's website.

Each phone request then gets keyed into Phorest by whoever is at the desk. At two minutes each, 55 requests is under two hours a month.

Using both

There is no conflict between them. Front Desk AI stays on your messaging; Glow Line takes the voice calls that nobody picks up. Set the divert with the code the dashboard shows (divert your missed calls), keep your usual number on your website and socials, and confirm phone requests from the Bookings page. Glow Line does not write into Phorest, so each confirmed booking is entered by hand.

Where Phorest Front Desk AI is the better choice

  • Most of your clients text or WhatsApp rather than ring.
  • You want bookings made in Phorest from live availability, with no one checking first.
  • You take deposits up front and want the assistant to collect them.
  • You want an assistant working around the clock inside the Phorest Chat inbox your team already uses.
  • You want a person to pick up the conversation the moment a client asks.

Glow Line does none of these. If voice is what you need, our list of AI receptionists for salons compares the phone options.

FAQ

Does Phorest Front Desk AI answer phone calls?

Phorest's feature page says it handles scheduling requests and questions via SMS and WhatsApp, and its help article says it currently works over two-way SMS and WhatsApp. Neither page describes it answering calls.

Does Glow Line connect to Phorest?

No. Glow Line cannot read or write any salon diary, Phorest included. Requests sit on your Bookings page, phone requests also reach you by text, and you put the appointment into Phorest.

How much does Front Desk AI cost?

Phorest does not publish it. Its Australian pricing page lists Front Desk AI among the add-ons without a price, and every plan there is priced by quote.

Does Glow Line text my clients?

No. It texts you after each call. You confirm with the client by tapping their mobile on the request, which opens a text from your own phone. See confirm a booking request.
