Glow Line vs OfficeHQ

OfficeHQ puts a person behind its AI and costs less below 15 calls a month. Glow Line is AI only, $29 for 40 calls, and turns calls into booking requests.

Glow Line is made by the Glow Tally team, so this comparison is our own. Every fact about another product links to that product's own page.

OfficeHQ is an Australian answering service with two kinds of help: people who take messages, transfer calls or manage a diary, and an AI receptionist that hands the call to a live receptionist when it gets stuck or the caller asks. Glow Line is an AI line with no person who can take over a call. Pick OfficeHQ if you want a human voice available on every call, or if you miss fewer than about 15 calls a month, where its AI plan costs less. Pick Glow Line if you miss more than that, want the assistant to quote your own service prices, and are happy to confirm each booking yourself by text.

OfficeHQ's prices are shown plus GST on its Australian site; the inc GST figures add 10%. Prices marked "from" are OfficeHQ's own wording.

What a month costs at three call volumes

Glow Line's price stays flat inside each allowance. OfficeHQ's AI plan charges per call past its bundle, so the answer moves with volume. These figures use the lowest-cost OfficeHQ AI bundle for each volume.

Missed calls a month Glow Line OfficeHQ MyAI Receptionist, inc GST
12 Line, $29 10-call plan plus 2 extra: $25.30
40 Line, $29 10-call plan plus 30 extra: $71.50
150 Salon, $84 100-call plan plus 50 extra: $225.50

At 14 calls a month the OfficeHQ 10-call plan comes to $28.60, still under Line; at 15 it is $30.25. So a solo brow artist who misses three calls a week pays less with OfficeHQ, and a busy colour room pays less with Glow Line.

If you want people rather than AI, OfficeHQ's MessageExpress at 40 calls is the 50-call bundle at $126.50 inc GST, or $137.50 on pay as you go.

A person behind the line, or not

This is the real difference, more than price. When a caller to OfficeHQ's AI asks for a person, or the AI cannot help, OfficeHQ says the call is handed to a live receptionist. A caller to Glow Line who asks for a person hears that the team is with clients and will call back, and their message is taken. It cannot transfer the call or put them on hold.

Some salon clients will never talk to a machine. If a fair share of yours are like that, a human fallback is worth paying for.

What the assistant knows

Glow Line's assistant works from your Receptionist page: up to 30 services, each with a price and a length in minutes, your hours by day, and notes such as your deposit rule or where to park. Ask it what a full head of foils costs and it reads your price. Ask something that is not on the list and it says it is not sure and that the team will confirm. See services and hours.

OfficeHQ's AI page describes taking caller details and giving information; it does not say how a price list is loaded or quoted, so ask them on the trial.

Where OfficeHQ is the better choice

  • You want a real person to take over whenever a caller asks.
  • You miss fewer than about 15 calls a month, where its 10-call AI plan comes in under $29.
  • You want calls transferred through to you or your staff, which MyReceptionist does and Glow Line cannot.
  • You want someone else to manage bookings in your calendar, which MyDiary offers.
  • You would like messages by email as well as text, or need other services such as a 1300 number or a business address from the same supplier.

Where Glow Line fits instead

  • You miss 15 or more calls a month and want a flat price.
  • You want callers told your actual prices and durations.
  • You want a booking page and an enquiry inbox in the same account.

OfficeHQ and Glow Line also appear beside six other services on our salon receptionist list.

FAQ

Is OfficeHQ's AI really cheaper than Glow Line?

Below 15 calls a month, yes: the 10-call plan is $22 inc GST and each extra call $1.65. From 15 calls up, Glow Line's Line plan at $29 costs less, and at 40 calls the gap is $42.50 a month.

Can Glow Line put a caller through to me?

No. It takes a message and texts it to you. If you want calls transferred, OfficeHQ's MyReceptionist or a person at the desk is the answer.

Do both work with my existing number?

Glow Line gives you a new Australian number and you divert unanswered calls to it, keeping your own number public (divert your missed calls). OfficeHQ lists call diversion among its services; check the setup on their trial.

Does either book clients into my diary?

Glow Line does not: it takes a request and you confirm. OfficeHQ's MyDiary service manages bookings, cancellations and rescheduling; its AI plan page does not say it books.

How we checked
